Philippe MARCHAND

Philippe Marchand holds a DESS in Measurement of analyses techniques applied to Bio-industries, obtained in 1990. He is a member of LABERCA’s management committee and was appointed Head of the Contaminants Unit in 2000 and manages a team of 15 technicians and engineers. His work involves the development of accredited methods for the analysis of environmental contaminants in food matrices for human or animal consumption or in environmental matrices, as well as the development of screening methods for contaminants in mass spectrometry (Dioxins-PCB-PAH-BFR-PFC) anticipating the European regulation or for the emergence of new substances. He also develops hightly sensitive and robust methods for the acquisition of occurrence data in the analysis of newly sought-for environmental contaminants.

In the context of LABERCA’s National Reference Laboratory mission, he provides assistance to the competent authorities and facilitates and coordinates the French control plan network laboratories, whom he trains and supports. His activity also includes the development of analytical tools for the authorities in charge of crisis management.

He set up numerous partnerships with interprofessional bodies (CNIEL, Interbev, CPA, BNIC, ITAVI, CNPO,…) in the framework of projects financed by the profession or carried out under national financing (CASDAR).

He contributes to research activities linked to dioxins, PCBs, PAH topics according to ISO 9001 standard requirements and valorizes research via publications or oral communications at workshop or Congresses for a national or international audience.
