Michael O'KEEFFE
Doctor Michael O'KEEFFE has over 20 years experience in the area of contaminant residues in food and is author or co-author of over 50 peer reviewed scientific publications. He was responsible for research on chemical food safety at The National Food Centre, Dublin until he retired in 2009. This research group has been involved in many research projects funded by the European Commission (EU Framework Research Programmes, 1990 - 2003) and by Irish industry, government and other national agencies. The major areas of research include extensive work in method development, monitoring programmes (the laboratory is a National Reference Laboratory for residue analyses under European Council Directive 96/23/EC), quality assurance schemes and residue persistence studies. Dr. O'KEEFFE is editor of the book (best-seller) « Residue Analysis in Food - Principles and Applications » (Harwood Academic Publishers, 2000).
